Three steps on the floor, two to seal it, one at the window. Nothing to screw, nothing to drill, nothing to patch up when you leave.

Assemble

Lay out the frames

Everything happens on the floor first. Clear a space near the window, roughly the size of the finished blind.

  1. Unpack all four rails and both sealing strips. Check nothing is missing before you begin.
  2. Lay the rails out in a rectangle with the inner channels facing inward.
  3. Make sure the internal cord runs between the rails, never outside them.
TipWork on carpet, a rug or a towel. The frame is aluminium and a hard floor will win.

Assemble

Click in one side

Start at any corner you like. The rails only fit one way round, so if it feels wrong, turn it.

  1. Line the side rail up square against the top and bottom rail.
  2. Push it in until you both hear and feel it click.
  3. Press on the corner itself, not halfway along the rail.
TipIf it won't seat, don't force it. Back it out, square the channels up, and try again.

Assemble

Click in the other sides

Work your way round and click the remaining corners home the same way. With all four connected you have a closed rectangle. Close the blind once to check it latches properly.

CheckRun a finger over all four corners. They should sit flush, no step, no gap. Sort it now, not after sealing.

Seal

Add the brush strip

The brush strip is the first of two seals. It runs along the back edge of the frame, all the way round.

  1. Peel about ten centimetres of backing off one end, just enough to get started.
  2. Press it down at a corner and work along the rail, peeling more as you go.
  3. Trim the excess, then repeat on the other three sides.
Keep it lowMount it as low as the frame allows, right against the back edge. Sit it too high and the weather strip has nowhere left to go. Press it into a clean 90° at every corner.

Peel as you go. Exposed adhesive picks up dust, and it only sticks properly once.

Seal

Add the weather strip

Same technique, one level up. This is the seal that closes the last gap between frame and recess.

  1. Start at a corner, directly above the brush strip.
  2. Peel and press along each side, keeping the strip relaxed rather than taut.
  3. Trim at the end, and cover all four sides without gaps.

Install

Put it in the window

Two hands, one movement. On a wide window a second pair of hands makes this easier.

  1. Hold the frame at roughly a 70° angle to the window.
  2. Guide the bottom into the recess first and push it firmly down.
  3. Push the top into position until the frame sits flush all the way round.
  4. Open and close it once to test.
DoneThat's the whole job. No screws, no holes, nothing to fill in when you move out.
And that's it

Any light still getting in will be at a corner. Press that corner down firmly and it's gone.
